This purpose of this lesson is to tie in all the previous lessons, and have the students' write what it means to them to live in North Carolina.  The video, by Charles Kuralt and Loonis McGlohorn entitled, North Carolina Is My Home, would be a great ending to this unit.  However, this video may be shown at the beginning to expose the students to the activities and web sites that they will be visiting.  This video can be found in your public  library or ordered from the North Carolina Public Television Network.

At the conclusion of this unit, we encourage your students to write on the topic: What it means to live in North Carolina.   The students should use ideas from each of the lessons and activities to create their paper.  To expose the students to more technology, they could write their ideas on the computer using various software programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Works, Claris Works, etc.  To make their paper more meaningful to them, the students could pull a picture off the Internet or try their hands at drawing their own by using the drawing tools.

Other videos could be shown throughout this lesson to give your students more knowledge and information about our great state.  Below are a listing of videos that we have in our libraries and recommend for teaching about North Carolina.
