* Never give out your last name, address, telephone number, or school name to someone you meet online

* Never respond to any messages that are obscene or threatening

* Don't agree to have a private, one-to-one on-line conversation with someone you have not met in person.

* If a conversation makes you feel uncomfortable, log off the on-line service and tell a parent

* Don't send your photo out or put your photo on a home page without talking to a parent

* Remember that people on the network may not be who they claim to be; an adult could be pretending to be a child and vice versa

* If you want to arrange a face-to-face meeting with an on-line friend, get a parent's permission beforehand and make sure that they go with you.
