Emily immediately prays for her father after he says that word, she hopes God will forgive him.

2. Prissy p. 14 par. 3

Emily is upset because she is not completely neat and tidy. She is disgusted to not be prim and proper.

3. Dignified p. 16 par. 3

Emily does not want to seem as though she is alone and tries to make her uncle sound more important than he might actually be.

Character Goal:

Emily’s goal is to go to her Uncle’s house to stay, until her father gets money and returns home.

Problem:

Emily’s problem is that her uncle is not at the train station to pick her up, when she arrives.

Solution or Possible Solution:

Someone might eventually pick up Emily other than her Uncle. Someone who is not supposed to pick her up will pick her up.
