Traveler

I met a girl last night
Whom I can’t get out of my head.
She is unlike any woman I have ever met,
Smart, nice, and beautiful too.
But there is something more than that.
I can’t point it out,
Or even begin to explain it,
But it’s there, somewhere.
To put her in heaven
Amongst the angels
Would be a crime.
Or on Mount Olympus
Amongst the Goddesses
Would be unfair still.
For the angels and Goddesses
Do not possess that special thing,
Which makes this girl who she is, Iwona.
In a few days I leave this town,
And this girl behind,
Perhaps never to return.
Maybe it is only then
That she will be put in her deserving place,
Occupying an old vacancy
Deep down in my heart.
