Put your class into groups of
four or five and have them discuss the following questions.
What is bullying?
Who is a bully?
Who is a target?
How do you handle bullying?
Are bystanders really
innocent? Why or Why not?
Are you a bully?
Where can you get help if you
are a victim of bullying?
After each group answers
these questions, come together as a class and review their answers. On a piece of chart paper make sure you write
the main points to each question. After
doing this have each student write in their journals about a time they were
bullied, or were a bully. Have them also
write how they could have changed the situation to not be a victim or a bully.
Instead of journal writing
you could have the students pair off. Each student will then make a sock puppet of
themselves using various materials.
After this have each pair make up a puppet skit with a bullying scene. Have them include a scenario for having the
victim overcome the bullying and the bully to be stopped.
