  1. This passage is an interesting/descriptive passage because it describes exactly what Donald thinks stars are-stars that are fallen from the sky and that his mother goes around collecting them like acorns.  It is interesting because it is so descriptive and such a creative answer to what Donald thinks stars are.

  1. Think of a good thinking question about the passage.  Write it down along with the answer to this question.

What would you think stars are if you did not already know the scientific explanation of stars?

I would say that stars are shiny things in the sky that are so far away. They are small and cold.

  1. Answer one of these questions in a complete sentence (s): Why did the author include this passage in the story?  What does this passage add to the story?

The author is showing Donald’s personality and how creative he is.  This passage adds a lot to the story because we get to see the personal feelings and side of Donald.
