This word adds meaning because it tells you how and how long Quinn looked the class bookcase to get an idea of what book her and Cody should make puppets of.  In this statement glanced is used to show what she left unsaid.  She didn’t say which book from the bookcase do you want to do she look and said “What story?”

5. This word describes and emotional reaction to a situation.  It clues you in to how the character feels without them stating it.
