Due: april 27
You will begin to develop a professional portfolio over the course of the semester. The portfolio you develop will serve two primary purposes: (1) to use as evidence that demonstrates some of your teaching abilities and (2) to practice developing the kind of portfolio that aligns itself with part of initial-licensure. Your portfolio will be housed on your Task Stream website which you will create in CI 3750. You will collect appropriate artifacts (at least one from each Block II course) and align them with part of the DPI standards that your instructor will provide for you. For each artifact, you should have an appropriate rationale statement that includes context, impact, and alignment. You also will include a resume at the beginning of your professional portfolio. Please note that each block instructor will guide you in the selection of the artifact to represent the course. For example, your CI 4000 artifact will be your interdisciplinary unit. Your CI 4000 instructor will guide you in the writing of the rationale statement for the unit. CI 3750 is where it will all come together.
Your rationale statement for each artifact will include the following:
Context: A complete description including how and why the artifact was produced and in what context the artifact should be used.
Impact: Explains how the strategies and knowledge represented in the artifact will be applied to the NCSCS and explicitly the impact on student learning in the classroom. In the student impact statement you will specifically discuss what your students have learned based on a formative or summative assessment you have given.
Alignment: States the NCATE/DPI standards addressed by the artifact and and a justification describing how this artifact aligns with the standards you have chosen. Explains how the artifact provides evidence for student growth via the competencies through specific examples (need copies of student work to demonstrate learning and growth).
