Closure activity: To close this unit, ask students what some things are that they noticed about William Steig’s books. Ask them to write this in their writing journal.

Instructional Ideas and Extensions: Make a William Steig bulletin board. Have each child either draw a picture from one of the books or write a paragraph about   something that happened in one of the books. You may want to include Word Wizard cards, artist drawings, and summaries.
