p. 34 para. 6 "Salvador gripped ... to be welcome."
I know someone who came to the United States from Mexico when he was 14 years old. It was a very difficult and dangerous journey. Even after he made it across the border, he was not welcome here and was worried that he would be made to leave. Even now, after he is a legal resident of the United States, he endures the prejudice and hatred of some people in the United States. Some people still look at him with mean expressions on their faces and make it very clear by the way they act that he is not welcome here. In one local town a man put signs up all over town that said very hateful lies about Mexicans. People make ugly jokes about Mexicans and think that it is ok. It is not ok. It is never ok to make anyone feel bad.
