After investigating the web page: http://yucky.kids.discovery.com/noflash/worm/index.html I found the following information out on worms.  Worms have seven body parts.  These body parts are the following:  mouth, pharynx, esophagus, crop, gizzard, and intestine.  Pharynx: Worms push their pharynx or throat out of their mouth to grab leaves and to pull them back into the mouth. Then they get them nice and wet with my saliva.  Esophagus: Once the worms have my food good and wet, they push it down with their esophagus, then onto the crop.  Crop: The crop is a storage compartment for food and other things worms swallow. From the crop, the worms lunch goppes to their gizzard.  Gizzard: The gizzard is where the work happens. Worms use any stones that have been swallowed and the strong muscles of the gizzard grind up the leaves. These muscles work almost like teeth.  Intestine:  When worms get the leaves all ground up they move to the intestine where the digestive juices break them down even more.  They’re about 4,400 different species of worms.  But the website mentioned that there are 2, 700 different kinds of earthworms.  The worms make good recyclers because they are called decomposers, which help us decompose the dead leaves, trees, etc.  By breaking down the dead plants, feces, and decaying animals this makes important nutrients necessary for rich and fertile soil.  Worms are very helpful to use and provide us with many good things.
