Character Sketcher

1.) Character Trait: Liar page 9 paragraph 11

Proof of trait: Grandma had just told the story of how Shotgun Cheatham got his name to her grandchildren, when a newspaper reporter came to her and asked how he got his name and she told him a flat out lie. The two stories about how Shotgun got his name were very different and I have a feeling that the first story that she told was more true than the second story.

2.) Character Trait: Sneaky page 27 paragraph 5 to end of chapter

Proof of trait: Grandma knew that the Cowgill boys were planning on breaking in her house so she tricked them by saying that she was going out of town. At night she turned off all of the lights and sat real still till the boys tried to break in the back door. From then till the end of the chapter Grandma had tricked the boys and held the hostage in her kitchen. She even had a trick to get the boys in trouble with their dad.

3.) Character Trait: Large page 19-20 paragraph 5-6

Proof of trait: In this passage it describes Grandma as a woman with big hips and big fists. This passage also says that Grandma sleeps in a room downstairs because she wants to save herself the walk of the stairs. According to the passage before this with explaining that she has big hips and fists I assume that walking upstairs would not be an exercise that Grandma would want to do, due to the amount of activity.

Character Goal:

Grandma's goal for this section, I think, is to make Shotgun Cheatham's a life seem better than it really was. Because of all of the rumors around town, not all of them good, Grandma decided to lie to the newspaper reporter and tell him this great heroic history of Shotgun. Grandma really told the true story to her grandchildren and it was about how Shotgun got his name from being weak.

Problem:

Grandma's problem is that her old enemy Mrs. Effie Wilcox was coming over to use Grandma's privy because the Cowgill boys knocked down hers. Grandma's mailbox was also blown up by the Cowgill boys.

Solution:

To solve this problem Grandma tricked the boys into breaking into her house at night and she caught them and held them hostage with a shotgun and got the boys in trouble with their dad. She repaid the boys for making her put up with her old enemy and for blowing up her mailbox.
