Modifications for Special Needs Students

AG STUDENTS

• Keep them at a higher pace
• Encourage them to use as much creativity as possible
• Have them assist members in their groups that may be struggling
• Place these students in the above grade level book
• Encourage students to find deeper meanings in the the reading that they can share with their group

LEARNING DISABLED IN READING STUDENTS

• Have students pair up on jobs to cut down on stress
• Place these students in the below grade level book
• Provide more assistance to these students
• Give them job where they will be engaged more (if students enjoys drawing let them draw)

ADHD STUDENTS

• Have a student work with this student to remind them to stay on task
• Shorten sections if they are too long for student and student loses focus
• Encourage student to become involved in discussions so they are actively involved and not tempted to be doing other things
• Allow student to do something they like with each job. If they like drawing allow a drawing to accompany passages and so forth.
