Character Traits/ Proof
1. personable- Abe Lincoln was always talking to people and listening to their stories. It didn't matter if they were talking about politics or legal advice, he was always visiting with somebody. p. 2 par. 1 and 3
2. passionate- Abe Lincoln was so passionate about his beliefs. He wanted to make a difference in this country so he decided to run for President. He made sure people knew his stance on slavery and stayed true to what he had always believed in. p. 10
3. humble- Abe Lincoln was very humble and he never forgot where he came from. He always kept in mind what it took to get him where he was. In his farewell speech Lincoln stated, "My friends...to this place, and the kindness of these people, I owe everything". p. 13 par. 2
Character Goal:
Abraham Lincoln's goal is to end slavery in America. p. 10 par. 2
Problem:
Lincoln's problem is that the South did not agree with him. They felt that it should be legal to buy and sell black people as slaves. Once Lincoln was President the southern states began to leave the Union. p. 7 par. 1 p. 12 par. 4
Solution:
Lincoln felt that he could not let the South go without a fight. "The country was facing the unthinkable: war with itself." This lead to the Civil War. p. 12 par. 4
