the reader know that his father is living somewhere else, and he has never
seen his father. The only thing
Moon Shadow knows about his father is that he is a kite maker.

important information does this passage give to the reader? It lets us know that Moon Shadow’s father
is gone, it also tells about how his grandfather was lynched by a mob of
White Demons.

author included this passage to give the reader an introduction to the
history of the main character. It
also gives us a clue what the story is going to be about, and what the
main characters goal is.

- This
passage describes the kites his father made.
- What
do you think the author meant when he said “his kites flew
themselves. That they were so
perfect that they could even fly themselves. They are so beautiful and well built
that they are easy to use, and anyone could fly them without any problems.

author included this passage to not only describe the kites, but it lets
us know a little about Moon Shadow’s father’s character. He was caring, honest, a good man, and
he took pride in all he done, and he was proud of his life and work.

- This
passage is persuasive because cousin Hand Clap is trying to persuade Moon
Shadow’s mother, and grandmother to let him go with him to the land of the
Golden Mountain
to see his father.
- Why
did Moon Shadow’s mother did not want him to go with Hand Clap? She was afraid the demons would beat
him, and she did not want him to leave home.
- The
author included this passage because without it there would be no
story. The whole story is going to
revolve around him living with his father.
Also it shows he has a loving, and protective mother because she
does not want him to leave.
