Launch Activity

To get started, talk, as a group, about some of the ocean animals we have already studied.  Show the powerpoint on whales that was made earlier in the year.  Explain that we are going to look at other ocean animals, focusing on dolphins and sharks, and talk about them. 

Review what we already know about the ocean and ocean animals.  Use the smartboard to make a list of characteristics of the ocean and ocean animals.  Have students talk about and predict whether dolphins and sharks will have these same characteristics.
