Assessment:
Formative Assessment
The formative part of the unit will be assessing vocabulary knowledge and learning through vocabulary instruction activities. Also, comprehension will be assessed through their written literature circle jobs. The teacher will be able to find out if the student understands the material in the course of these lessons.
Summative Assessment
The students will be using what they have learned by completing a K-W-L chart throughout the course of their work and also by completing an ABC book. The ABC book will include a page for each letter of the alphabet, representing a character, word, concept, or some kind of new development that they have learned from beginning to end of the Lit. Circle Unit. An example of this might be:
For the letter B Butterfly
For the letter C Chrysalis
For the letter P Pupa
The students will accommodate pictures, magazine cutouts, or anything to represent the words on each page. This will be a representation of what they have accomplished and discovered during the Unit.
