Context:
This Literature Circle Unit is designed for 2nd graders at a 2nd and 3rd grade reading level. The children will be given jobs for each of the 5 sections. These jobs will include, Passage Picker, Discussion Director, Word Wizard, Character Sketcher, Connector, Summarizer, Activity Activator, Artful Artist, and Investigator. The jobs have been modified because these are 2nd graders. This is the youngest age that is able to do Literary Circles.
The children will be discovering different types of poetry and dramatic play throughout their journey. They will be experiencing ownership of their own ideas through imaginative writing and through artwork. The children will also learn how to research and retrieve information by collecting data through using many sources.
