Modifications

 

I know that I am going to have a diverse group of students in my classroom and so it will be imperative to have tiered assignments and make modifications in my lessons for students.  I could record myself reading the book "Judy Moody" and have visually impaired or struggling readers listen to the tape of the book instead of having to read the novel. 

 

Also, some students may not be able to complete the entire task of the job they are assigned for a section of reading.  I would have to modify the level of the tasks for that job so the student would be more confident and successful when reporting back to their group.  I also may have a group of students who do not read as fast and may not comprehend as well as the other groups.  It would be important for me to modify the amount of text this group is to read at a time.  I could have more sections, but have a smaller amount of text divided for the students to read each day.
