Two poems I wrote about Trumpets (one rhyming and one free verse):

Trumpet

Thank you for letting me join your class

I am Terrance the trumpet and am made out of brass

I might have a few dents here and there

But do be polite and try not to stare

For even though I am old, I can still play

I was the best horn around back in my day

When Seth was in band he used to play me a lot

But that was a long time ago, maybe he forgot

Or maybe he still remembers how to play

Maybe he will play us all a beautiful tune today

Well I better get going, its time for my lunch

Seth sure was right you are a wonderful bunch

Ta Ta tood-a-loo good bye and so long

Until me meet again have fun studying all about Louis Armstrong!

Trumpet

Old and battered, crusty and rusty

Dents here, scratches there

Sleeping just waiting and wanting to be played

Cold metal shimmering

Blowing out hot tunes

Swimming and swirling sweet notes rush to meet a new world
