Modifications
This lesson can be modified in several ways to meet the needs for special needs students. First of all, this unit must be simplified or scaled down to a third grade comprehension level. Since my group has never worked with literature circles before, I am going to have them carry on two or three jobs or roles per section instead of five different ones. As time progresses, the students can each have a different job. The format of each job will be created a little differently so that the 3rd graders will be able to comprehend the task that they are doing. The students will also be provided with paper and instructions on how to do each job. If the students are having difficulties with the first section, I will cut the assignments back requiring more time spent on making sure that the students are understanding each job or role.
