Japanese Internment
Camps- WWII
This book is a
young boy’s journal during WWII. He is from San Francisco, CA and
after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, his family is relocated to Mirror
Lake Camp, which is a “concentration camp” for all Japanese people.
There were ten camps like this throughout the nation for anyone with Japanese
blood. They were created by President Roosevelt in order to insure
that none would be able to act as spies or try to help the Japanese invade
the US again. The story is from a young Japanese-American boy’s perspective,
and tells about life at the camp and the ways the war affected
his family, friends,
and himself.
