The town of Ping Pong, Antarctica was a place where only penguins lived. It was as cold as a block of ice right out of the freezer. The population is 129 penguins and they are a very close community. It is a place where everyone knows your name.
In the town of Ping Pong there lived two penguins; Bob and Jeff. Bob and Jeff had grown up together. Bob was always better at everything including sports. Bob was very muscular and even had the only gym in Ping Pong named after him. He was the typical handsome Penguin because he was 3’4 and had blue eyes. Everyone in the town knew that Bob was the best at everything he ever tried. Bob was always bragging about how he could beat Jeff at everything.
Jeff, on the other hand, was not granted with good looks. He hardly had any black on him and those glasses he wore were the size of a magnifying glass. Jeff, at first, was able to ignore him. But after a while it started to hurt his feelings. No one wanted to pick him to be on their team for any activity because he always made his team lose because he would trip over his flippers.
One day they were outside playing in the water. Bob wanted to start races and all the other penguins agree, except for Jeff. He knew this was just another chance for Bob to brag and show he was better than him. They finally begged Jeff to be in the relay and he agreed. It was Bob’s team against Jeff’s. Both of the penguins were the last penguins on their relay team. The object of the relay was to swim to the stone out in the water and then swim back to the shore. The first penguin out of the water was the winner.
Both of the teams were neck and neck when it came time for Bob and Jeff to jump in the water. Bob decided to be overconfident and he told Jeff that he would let him jump in ahead of him. Bob let Jeff get to the rock where they were to turn around before he jumped in. He still was not swimming as fast as he could because he knew he could catch up to Jeff. The next thing he knew Jeff was passing him going the other way. Bob started to panic so he sped up and started swimming as fast as a motorboat. He could not swim fast enough. Jeff was already out on the shore and Bob could hear everyone cheering for him. Jeff had not really been as slow as Bob thought. He would never judge Jeff again because Jeff had proven he could win.
Moral- Slow and persistent win the race
