I Am A Pumpkin  __________

I am round and rippled

I want to be planted in a good fertilized field

I see a long green vine growing out the top of my head

I wonder how big I can grow

I hear a deep pounding sound after I have finished growing to see if I’m ripe

I am round and rippled

I feel like I’m wrapped in a warm fuzzy blanket when the sun hits me

I touch the cool moist soil beneath me in the patch

I worry that I might not get enough water to grow

I pretend that I am many creatures during Halloween

I cry when I get cut up and put in a pie

I am round and rippled

 I say that I am really a fruit 

I understand that I come in different colors and shapes

I dream about winning first prize at the state fair

I try to make it through all the stages of my life cycle:

seed, sprout, blossom, young green pumpkin, adult pumpkin

I hope a child will come and take me home to decorate

I am round and rippled.
