Both books we will read in this unit are written by Katherine Paterson.  Before we begin, I want you to find out as much information about Katherine Paterson as you can.  I want you to find out about her past.  I want you to find out why she wrote both of these books (Bridge to Terabithia & The Great Gilly Hopkins).  Try to find out as much information as you can.  After you have done the research, I want you to get together with a partner and compare what you found.  You can use the Internet or you can do it the old fashion way, and go to the library.  There are many sources where you can find out information about authors.  Next, I want you to come up with any way to tell about the information you found.  It can be a poster, a home made paper book, or even an oral presentation.  Be creative!  Have Fun and Go Research!!
