On page 32, all the students are excited, happy, and confident about their ability to win the Field Day competition. However, at the end of section 2 on page 47, everyone is sad, upset, and defeated. The mood is somber rather than joyful.

This book is in the genre realistic fiction. You can tell this because nothing happens in the story that could not happen in real life. However, Junie B. is not a real person, and the story is not true, so it is fiction.
