Director
Your Job is to find 6 questions, the answer to your questions, and page
and paragraph number where the answers are found (if possible). Be sure to come
up with good thinking questions. You need to ask the following types of
questions:
1 Description question
(question where the answer describes something in the story such as a
character, setting, or event)
1 Cause and Effect question (the effect tells what happened. The cause
tells why it happened)
1 Mood
2 Prediction
1 Thinking question (on
your own to make the audience think)
Passage
Picker
Your job as passage picker will be to pick out certain passages of section that
interest you or contain certain literature components such as imagery or
descriptive language. As passage picker you are to write down the page and
paragraph number the passage is located in. You are also to write down
the first two and the last two words of the passage and name what type of
passage it is or why you chose it. Think of a question about the passage
and write it down along with the answer. Also write down why you think the
author used the passage in the story and what the passage adds to the story?

Character
Sketcher
Your job as character sketcher is to is to identify a character’s actions
(trait) and explain or prove these traits, identify the character’s goal (which
is what the character wants to do or accomplish), identify the problem and
solution in the reading, and complete a sketch or illusion of the character.
The trait that you will pick should be implied traits, traits that are not
directly stated in the passage, you should use descriptive words for these and
avoid such words as good, bad, mean, etc… When you list your traits be sure to
include the page and paragraph number where you found the trait.

Word
Wizard
Your job as word wizard is to perform the following task with the list of words
presented to you in each section. First write down the page and paragraph
containing the word, and then copy the sentence that the word is located
in. Reread the sentence, think about the word and how it is used in the
sentence and write down what type of speech you think the word is and what your
think the word means. Look the word up in the dictionary using the
dictionary definition and everything you know about the word write down your
own definition of the word. Explain how this word adds meaning to the
story. Create a word wizard card for each word. On the front
in large print, write the word, page and paragraph number. On the
backside of the card include the word, page and paragraph number, the definition
and draw a picture to represent your word.

Your job is to connect the
book your group is reading to the outside world. This means asking yourself these question and
writing a paragraph about one or more of them:

this part of the story remind you of any other story you have read or
heard? Explain.

this part of the story remind you of anything that has happened to you, a
friend, or family member? Explain.

Does
this part of the story remind you of a movie or television show you have seen?
Explain.
In your paragraph, be sure
to include who or what your connection is about, where and
when it happened, what happened, and how it connects or
deals with the part of the story you were reading.
