Activity 1

We will have different situations dealing with family interactions such as divorce, death, prejudice and teenage struggles that children may face within their lives. To introduce the unit we will briefly discuss each situation as a group, and then they will write a story or a poem in their journals. The stories can either be private or they can share with the class.

Activity 2

Now have the class get into groups of four and research one of the four topics stated above. Organize their findings together and decide on a way that they would like to present their information to the class.

Activity 3

Present their projects to the class. They must have a visual product, must have statistics, and a handout to pass out to the class of their research.
