  1. The word peculiar adds to the character traits of Aunt Jessie.  She isn’t like everyone else and doesn’t care that she stands alone.

  1. Impostor, page 11 paragraph 13

 

  1. I thought maybe he was an impostor.

 

  1. Part of speech: noun.  Someone or Something that is fake.

 

  1. Definition:  Someone who cheats others by being fake

 

  1. The word impostor adds to the story with Jake Boone that is about to unfold.  Zinny is also making sure of herself and her situations.

 

 

Word 3

 

  1. Abundance, page 17 paragraph 2nd

 

  1. So now corn and tomatoes were okay, but not in too much abundance, only what we could eat ourselves and give to the neighbors.

 

  1. Part of speech: noun.  Having more than needed

 

  1. Definition:  Having plenty or more than enough

 

  1. The word abundance adds to the story with keeping Aunt Jessie in mind.  Knowing that she would not want anything to be wasted.  Zinny also took in to account for the things that she learned from Aunt Jessie and she used them often.  This was another lesson that she used.

 

 

Word 4

 

  1. Envisioned, page 29 paragraph 1st

 

  1. I envisioned myself gliding through Maiden’s Walk and Crow Hollow.

 

  1. Part of speech: verb.  To foresee something

 

  1. Definition:  To foresee something that is not yet existing

 

  1. The word envisioned adds to the story because Zinny is unfolding the trail within her mind.  She has the maps and she is now daydreaming about what she will see.
