Character Traits:

1. Adventurous-p.2 1^st incomplete paragraph

• ·        Sam enjoyed exploring through the swamp and having his own adventures in the wilderness.

2. Compassionate-p.25 par.3

• ·        Sam was compassionate towards the trumpet swans and he did not want them to get hurt.  He threw a stick at the fox who was trying to kill the swan.

3. Independent-p.4 1^st incomplete paragraph

• ·        Sam is independent because he likes to be alone, especially when he is out exploring in the wilderness.

Character Goal:

Sam’s goal in this section is to be able to witness the birth of the baby swans and to protect them from danger.

Character’s Problem:

Sam’s problem is that he does not know if he will be able to come back to the lake in time to see the babies be born

Character’s Solution:

Sam is able to come back before the eggs hatch, and just in time to save the mother swan from being killed by the fox.  I think he will be able to witness the hatching of the eggs and since he has befriended the swans, they will let him befriend the babies as well.
