Questions:
1. Can all animals live on every island?
2. Does there have to be certain circumstances for animals to live on an island? What are they?
3. Why can't Tigers live under water?
4. Why can't fish live on land?
5. Share two interesting facts with the class about the information you acquired.
Answers:
1. No, all animals can't live on every island.
2. Yes there does have to be certain circumstances for animals to live on an island. They are: There has to be the right kind of prey for each type of animal to eat, there has to be plants for the plant eaters and meat for the meat eaters, there has to be enough water for each animal to survive on, and there has to be enough land for living and protection.
3. Tigers can't live in the water because they can't breathe under water. They need oxygen and they are all meat eaters.
4. Fish can't live on the land for the same reasons Tigers can't live in water. It is because of the way they were made. Fish were made with gills that help them breathe under water, but Tigers weren't. Fish can't breathe unless they are under water. Also, fish are plant and animal eaters, so they need both sources.
5. There are 23 specimens that live on the Galapagos Island. Marine Iguanas are the only sea-going lizards in the world.
