WORD WIZARD
Word 1:

5. This word is used in the story to describe how the cob was talking. This adds meaning to the story because the cob is so proper and royal acting.

3. I think this word is a verb and it means to look at.
4. Peered means to look at something closely and carefully.
5. This word is used in the story to tell what the swan was doing, but it also has to do with what Sam was doing. Sam was observing the swans as he peered at them.
Word 3:
1. Intruder p.19 line 3
2. “With her sharp eyes, she searched the nearby shore for signs of an intruder.”
3. I think this word is a noun and it means someone who breaks in.
4. Intruder means to do something in an unwelcome way.
5. Sam was an intruder to the swans as he watched them from the shore. They did not welcome him to observe them as they laid their eggs.
Word 4:
1. Spellbound p.21 par.5
2. “He was spellbound at the sight of the swans.”
3. I think this word is a verb and means amazed.
4. Spellbound means to be fascinated with something.
5. Sam was spellbound at the sight of the swans. He was fascinated by them and wanted to continue to observe them.
