Justice PrevailsFollow-Up Report by Graham Brithers LAND FAR FAR AWAY, December 1 - Last month, tragedy characterized our land of "happily ever after." Homes were broken into and destroyed. Children and grandmothers were missing. And, disease spread throughout the countryside. But, it is with great relief that I report that justice has indeed returned to the Land Far Far Away. As avid Times readers recall, The Bear Family's home was broken into, their food eaten, their living room and bedrooms ransacked. The family was extremely distraught, concerned over the safety of their neighborhood. Mr. Bear actually organized a Neighborhood Watch that has become quite active. There have been no accounts of theft reported since then. And the offender was indeed just who authorities suspected. Because she is a minor, her identity remains protected. The young girl actually confessed and turned herself in to the police. She was assigned thirty hours of community service by the court. She plans to serve at a local Porridge Kitchen, giving back to those who are truly hungry. "I'm just glad to know our forest is safe now," acknowledged Mrs. Bear, "I think working at the Porridge Kitchen is a fair sentence, and I hope it does our little neighbor good." As for the missing persons reports, those individuals have thankfully been found. The brother and sister pair, Hansel and Gretel, returned home after about a week of absence. Apparently, while the children were away, they had access to an obscene amount of candy. When they arrived, they complained of terrible stomach-aches. Both children were hospitalized temporarily and are now under supervision of a nutritionist. "I always told my children to eat their vegetables," recollected Hansel and Gretel's father. "I just hate it had to take something like this to make them understand the value of good nutrition. But hopefully in the long run, they will be healthier for it." Red Hood's grandmother has also returned safe and sound. The experience with her abductor was too traumatic for her to be interviewed at this time. However, the culprit, Mr. B.B. Wolfe, has indeed been caught and tried. He was sentenced fifty hours of community service as the janitor at the Enchanted Acres Retirement Community. "I do believe exposure to the elderly will inspire a new sense of respect and appreciation within Mr. Wolfe." commented Judge Justice. "And of course, he will be under constant supervision." Yet another service opportunity has emerged from the tragedy of last month. The Land Far Far Away Abodes for Animals is in the process of organizing two work crews to build new homes for brothers Gilbert and Harold Pig, who lost their homes on account of tornado-like winds. The Pigs will continue to reside with their eldest brother, Martin, until the houses are complete. Abodes for Animals executive director, Harry Beaver promises that these new homes will be stable and built out of brick to avoid future high wind damage. And finally, the last of our tragic victims of last month, Miss Snow White, is feeling much better. After being hospitalized for a coma, doctors called in a coma specialist, Dr. Charming. Through simple mouth to mouth resuscitation, Dr. Charming was able to bring Miss White back to consciousness. This story does end in a happy ending, for Miss White and Dr. Charming fell in love and are planning a June wedding. Related to Miss White's story, health experts have said that the apple crop is indeed safe for all to eat. There must have just been one bad apple in the bunch. A community festival to celebrate the return to peace in the Land Far Far Away will be held this Saturday, December 3 in the Enchanted Forest. Please bring a covered dish to share. Information on service opportunities with the Porridge Kitchen, Enchanted Acres Retirement Community, and Abodes for Animals will be available there. Until then, may your days be happily ever after.
