Integration:
This literature circle has great opportunities to integrate science, math, and poetry lessons.
Science could be easily integrated with the study of the newt and with the study of solutions and mixtures.
The multiplication tables could be integrated because of the way that Matilda was such a wiz at math.
Writing their own poetry would be an easy way to get them to study a particular section of literature and use their knowledge to write their own poetry.
