1. ONE ITALICIZED QUESTION: (Page 131, Paragraph 2)
Why do you think that
the word closed is italicized?
The word closed is
italicized because it was Klaus’s tone of voice. When the children
had finally thought of a plan that might just work, of course something
unfortunate had to happen. Klaus was very upset and distraught because
nothing was turning out like he had planned.
2. ONE MCEOG QUESTION: (Page 124, Paragraph 1)
Which of these words
best describes Aunt Josephine’s house?
A) Sturdy
B) Feeble
C) Well-built
D) Robust
3. ONE PROBLEM/SOLUTION
QUESTION: (PAGES 131-143)
What problem did the
Baudelaire children face when they finally reached Damocles Dock?
And how did they solve their problem?
The Baudelaire orphans
finally reached Damocles Dock they noticed that they needed to get across
the lake and they needed a boat. The Fickle Ferry ticket booth was
closed so they went to, “Captain Sham’s Sailboat Rentals”. To make
matters worse they looked inside and one of Count Olaf’s comrades was inside
holding the keys that they needed to get a sailboat.
They solved the problem
by Sunny sneaking inside and getting the keys from Count Olaf’s comrade.
Even though they had to put up a fight with Count Olaf’s comrade they finally
did get a boat and escape.
4. ONE HERO QUESTION:
(Page 143. Paragraph 1)
How was Sunny a hero?
I think Sunny is a
hero because she is so young yet she always helps the Baudelaire children
when they need it the most. When Count Olaf’s comrade was chasing
after them Sunny had already bitten the rope that tied the boat to the
deck, and the children were already sailing out in the water by the time
the Count Olaf’s comrade got there.
5. ONE THINKING QUESTION:
Each one of
the Baudelaire children have a special talent in the book. Violet’s
is inventing things, Klaus’s is reading and investigating, and Sunny’s
is biting things. Do you think that these talents have helped them
throughout the book so far? What other talents would be useful to
the Baudelaire children?
These talents have
helped the children tremendously. So far, they have used their talents
to figure out things that have saved their lives. Some other talents
that would be helpful to the children are convincing, standing up for themselves,
karate, ect.
6. ONE THINKING QUESTION:
If you could be friends
with any character in the book, who would it be?
I would pick Violet.
I think that she is very smart and humble girl. She puts her siblings
before her and cares for them just like a mother would.
