· Mistis was acting bitter because she felt that she had done a lot for Neddy and he didn’t appreciate it, instead he ran way to join the Yankee army.

· Mistis was being cautious because she didn’t ask Eulinda about the dog sleeping in the bed until Mr. Hampton left the table.
3.) (Trait) Determined page 2 paragraph 1
· Mistis was determined to make everyone think that she liked Eulinda by educating her and allowing her to sleep in the house where her and Mr. Hampton slept.
Character Goal:
She wants Mr. Hampton to punish his slaves and turn his back on Eulinda.
Problem:
Mr. Hampton has respect for his slaves and treats them like human beings. Eulinda is his daughter.
Solution or Possible Solution:
A possible solution would be for her to lie about the slaves and lie on Eulinda enough that Mr. Hampton would have to turn his back on them to prove that he is a true master and that he does have the upper hand.
