Kathy Whittington
On February 1, 2004 Kathy Whittington began as the newest graduate assistant in the Leadership and Educational Studies Department. She works with Dr. Roma Angel and the School Administration program.
Kathy came to Boone from Charlotte in 1984 and received her B.S. in Psychology from ASU in 1988. Upon graduation, she was employed with New River Behavioral Healthcare providing case management, respite, and community inclusion services to adults and children with developmental disabilities and mental illnesses.
Kathy married her wonderful husband Danny, in 1990. Danny has been a successful hairstylist in Boone for more than 20 years and is a gifted musician. Kathy and Danny have three beautiful and talented daughters, Maleah (23), Hannah (11), and Colleen (8). Maleah graduated from Chapel Hill and is currently working in Raleigh. Hannah and Colleen attend Parkway School. Kathy is very active in her children's school and personal successes. She is very involved with her church and growth as a Christian. She enjoys teaching and encouraging young women in the areas of organization, defining purpose and identity, and family and home management.
Kathy is currently finishing her first year of graduate work in Student Development, concentrating in Student Affairs. Her desire is to eventually work with adult students helping them to develop wholly (mentally, physically, spiritually, and academically). To maintain her health and sanity Kathy exercises. She also enjoys plants and looking for rocks, reading, homemaking, and spending time with friends and family.
