for Thought

The LES Department, in
cooperation with the Black Faculty and Staff Association, the
Division of Academic Affairs, the Office of Multicultural
Student Development, and the NAACP, sponsored Suzette Speight,
Ph.D., Associate Professor, Counseling Psychology, Loyola
University Chicago, in her presentation titled, "Examining
Privilege and Oppression". Below is an
article, by Justin Boulmay, Staff Writer for The Appalachian, titled,
"Oppression,
privilege discussed at forum". This appeared in The
Appalachian , Thursday, May 1, 2003, Vol. 77, No. 49,
pp. 1, 12. It highlights Dr. Speight's comments to the
