RES 5560
Special Assignments in Lieu of Attending Class

Attending classes, while not mandatory, is extremely important. This course is enriched by class participation. Nevertheless, if you miss a class you MUST complete an alternative assignment to be determined by the instructor.

Note that these are often extensive assignments, typically requiring a 8-10 page, well documented paper.

All written work must be done with a word processor (either MS Word or WordPerfect), double-spaced, using either a 10 pitch or 12-pitch Times Roman font with one-inch margins on all sides (top, bottom, left, right).  Include identifying information  in the upper left-hand corner of the first page as follow:

Your Name
FDN 5560-<Section No.>
Date

The assignment should be emailed as an attachment to me on or before the due date. Use the following email address:

[email protected]

Be sure to include your name and class section number on the subject line.

Written work will be judged on a 5-pont scale as follows:

Quality of the response [0 - 3 points]: Does the response answer the question? Is the argument presented clearly articulated? Does it present a compelling, well-reasoned argument? Are cited resources relevant? Does it reflect clear and insightful thinking?

Writing style [0 - 2 points]: Grammar, spelling, sentence structure, cohesiveness.

Obtaining a low, over-all score on one of these assignments can result in a lowered grade for this course.
