Word Processing/Desktop Publishing:

Scan an image and insert it into a word processing document. Have students write about the art elements of that piece. |

Look at ArtSafari web site: http://artsafari.moma.org/ and have the students look at the various animals and write about those animals in the site. Then have the students create their own animals and write about them in word processing documents. They can submit these to the ArtSafari web site. |
Spreadsheet:

Have the students come up with a list of 10 CDs from various genres and the prices of those CDs. E-mail students in various areas of the United States to find out the prices of those CDs in their areas. Put the information into a spreadsheet to compare and contrast price differences in the various regions, and create a graph to show the difference in the regions. |

Give each letter of the alphabet a value (example A=1, B=2, etc.). Come up with a list of terms that go along with what you are studying. Have the students use a spreadsheet to total up the value of the words. Have students create a list of questions that will allow for further calculations. An example would be: What is the value of rhythm x harmony? |
Database:

Create a database that includes artists, techniques and periods to use for comparing and contrasting techniques. |

Create a database of 5 countries including their weather, landforms, economy, religion, etc. Also, include their different forms of dance, music, art, etc. Compare and contrast why these art forms would be in these countries from the information you learned about the countries. |
Multimedia:

Create a slide show of certain art techniques and the artists that use those techniques, including your student's artwork. |

Have a slide show of musical composers from various time periods. Have each slide use a music clip by that musician. The students will identify the instruments used in the piece. Then continue the slide show on musical instruments of that period and how they were made. |

Research a favorite artist or musician or movement in art or music. Create a piece or instrument that uses those techniques. |

Create a class web site that features a certain area and period of the arts (example: baroque period in music). Have each student or group focus on one person and create a simple web page. Link the pages together to form a class page that can be added to each year. |
