Focus and Review
The learner will explore the Internet to find information on popular and historical sites throughout North Carolina.
Materials Needed
* Internet Access at several sites
*Projection unit connected to Teacher computer terminal
*Pencil and paper
Time for Lesson
To receive the maximum benefits from this lesson, the students will need 45-60 minutes after the lesson to complete follow-up activities. The requirements may need to be altered depending on the availability of the Internet in your school. The time will be reduced if the indicated sites are bookmarked ahead of time.

Teacher Input
The teacher will discuss how you conduct a search on the Internet.
The teacher will review with students the rules for using the Internet.
The teacher will show that the sites have been placed under the Bookmark section of the web page, and how to use bookmarks.
The teacher will review procedures for printing and moving between web pages.
Guided Practice
The teacher will model how to search one of the sites listed on their worksheet.
The teacher will divide the class into partners at the available workstation connections.
The teacher will walk students through an entire search step by step.
Independent Practice
Students under the supervision of the classroom teacher and media specialist will begin exploring the various selected sights and answering the questions about each site.
Closure
TLW return to the whole groups focus, and share any new sights they found, and discuss their favorite sight visited.
The teacher will review the various rules and procedures discussed.
