*Since this unit is designed for on-grade-level third grade children, students participating in this unit should be reading on their instructional reading level
*Some of the students may benefit from having the story read aloud, instead of reading silently. You may read the book aloud with the child, or provide a recorded audio cassette tape for the child to listen to and follow along in their book.
*Some children may benefit from peer tutors and buddy reading.
*If a child is having difficulties completing their assigned job, it may be necessary to shorten their assignment. Instead of requiring that they complete five discussion director questions, it may be suitable to complete only three.
*Many students will find it helpful to have their assigned job responsibilities printed out for them with a fill-in-the blank response sheet or other directed answer, instead of creatively illustrating their information.
