The Moon Book

Discussion Director: Your job is to ask five (5) questions that really make your group members think to make sure they understood what was read. You also need to write down your answer to the questions and the page and paragraph numbers where the students can refer back to the text. You should ask the following types of questions: Multiple Choice, Fact/Opinion, Cause/Effect.
Word Wizard: Make word wizard cards for the words listed below, and then complete the vocabulary activities that go along with the words.
Debris- page 5
Imprisoned- page 7
· If you were riding your bicycle and you collided into your friend’s bike, how might you feel? What things can you do to prevent from colliding into something else while riding a bike?
· You heard a loud noise in your backyard and you went to see what it was. You didn’t see anyone, but found some debris. What could this debris be? Where have you seen debris before?
· He was imprisoned for his actions. What are some things that he could have done to get this punishment?
What is alike and different about these words:
· collided and accident?
· debris and trash?
· imprisoned and jail?
Double Entry Diary: Fold a piece of paper in half vertically. Write a quote, fact, or specific information from your reading that you found interesting on the left half of the paper. Include the page and paragraph number where your passage was found. On the right side, write why you chose this quote or fact. Tell what the quote makes you think about and how it adds to the text.
Investigator: Read pages 60-61 in the Space book to learn more about the moon. Then go to http://sciencemonster.com/planets_ourmoon.html . Read the interesting facts about the moon. Can you live on the moon? Why? How big is the moon? Explain the moon's gravity. How much would you weigh on the moon? Be prepared to share your findings with the group.
Artful Artist: Your job is to draw a picture that illustrates anything you found interesting in your reading. Write a paragraph explaining what your picture is about and why you chose to draw it.
