Launch Activity
In order to launch the unit we will start a KWL chart using the book Thanksgiving on Thursday. This will allow me to assess what the students know about Thanksgiving and will allow me to asses what they learned and retained after the lesson is over.

Explain to students that at the end of each lesson they will fill out the Learn part of the chart by doing special jobs. (click here for explanations) I will then explain to them that they will each get a job and when they are done reading for the day they will be able to do their jobs. By doing their jobs it will help them to fill out the last part of the KWL chart.
