Discussion Director:
Problem/Solution What was Jack and Annie’s problem in Chapter 2? How do you predict they will solve their problem? How would you solve their problem?- write this in your reading journal to share later.
Characterization (give words to describe characters and find evidence from the book that proves those are the traits)
Main Idea (the most important idea from this section)- write this in your reading journal to share later.
Point of View ( who is telling the story)- talk about it with your group members.
Setting (where and when the story takes place)- talk about it with your group members.
Passage Picker:
Find two passages from this section and answer two questions: Why did the author include this passage in the story? What does this passage add to the story?
Character Sketcher:
Give three character traits of Annie and explain them, be sure to write down the page numbers you found the traits on. Illustrate for the class what you think Annie looks like through the traits you found.
Word Wizard:
Using the words Pilgrim, gather, and Mayflower answer these questions:

Using these links answer 3 questions and report to your group members.

Assessment
For the assessment part of this lesson we will write a prediction to the section we read. This will allow us to combine our knowledge of prediction and what we already know. This will allow me to further assess what students already know about Thanksgiving and if they understand how to predict.
