In the beginning of the book Crash meets his new neighbor Penn Webb. He does not like him from the very beginning because he is different. Penn is a Quaker from North Dakota and his family is all vegetarians. Crash goes on to pick on Webb any chance he gets and this happens all the way up to middle school where Crash is a popular jock and Penn is a cheerleader. Crash's family is pretty dysfunctional, with his mom getting home late and his dad never having time for him, Crash meets a new friend, Mike Deluca. Mike also picks on Penn any chance he gets and as usual Penn takes it with a smile. At the end of the book, Crash realizes that everything he has been doing has been all wrong and he turns it around in the end by letting Penn win a chance to go to the Penn Relays that he loves so much. |
