Descriptive

            Page 88 par. 6 – par. 11

                        “’He’s a hundred…’ I rode on.”

This passage is a really descriptive passage about the early relationship between Penn and Crash. Penn really wants a new friend and is probably a little naive. Crash is also very bullyish and doesn’t want to seem interested in what Penn has to say. This passage really does describe this early relationship.

Informative

            Page 21 par. 7 - Pg. 22 par. 6

                        “Webb’s eyes…consume them.”

This passage is an informative passage because it explains to the reader what a vegetarian is. It explains that vegetarians do not eat meat. It also goes into why someone would not want to eat meat.

Cause/Effect

            Pg. 13 par. 5 – Pg. 14 Par. 7

                        “He held his…could hardly stand.”

Cause

Penn is a Quaker. As a Quaker, Penn does not believe in using guns or any other tools of violence.

            Effect

Penn refuses to play with Crash’s water guns. Furthermore, Crash drenches Penn by continually shooting him with his water gun.

Funny/Amusing

            Pg. 1 Par. 2

                        “It started way…their coats off.”

This is a funny opening passage where the reader finds out who Crash is and how he got his name. The whole image of knocking his cousin out the front door even before she can take her coat off is a funny one.
