FDN 5541: Adv. Web Design for Education

Session 4: Building Interactive Forms with FrontPage
  1. In groups, demonstrate to each other the web concepts you developed for last week's assignment. Discuss the applications of each web design element on your page. Summarize your groups discussions in a posting on the course discussion board.
  2. Introduction to web forms and MS Access databases using MS FrontPage.
    1. Developing the web form.
    2. Connecting a form to an Access database.
    3. Displaying selected database entries by using the Database Results Wizard.
  3. Build some forms.  Using your web folder on the ASU Vygotsky server, open and work in your own folder (NOTE: if you are using frames, tables, or shared  boarders,  please carefully check the "Selected Pages" instead of the "All Pages" option).
  4. Project management.  Use the tasks and report features for assigning tasks to individuals in your web projects this week. Be prepared to demonstrate and discuss their effectiveness next week.

Tasks:

  1. If you have gone through assignment one, try out Assignment 2.
  2. Develop at least three different web forms for your web which will enable others to enter selected information into an Access database.  Information may be entered by students or by other teachers.
  3. Consider the different ways each web form you develop may be useful in integrating technology within a particular educational setting - preferably, one in your school(s) or classroom(s).  Review some of the content and technology objectives listed by the DPI and consider how your web forms might be used to meet them.
  4. For more advanced information and options, you might want to bookmark: Web Developers Virtual Library.  Explore it's nuggets as your interests and time allow.
